Job Purpose
Due to growth, we have an opportunity for a Commercial Strategy Manager to join the business on a 24 month FTC at this exciting time.
This is a strategic leadership position in the formation and design of commercial delivery arrangements proactively aligning business strategy with identification of solutions to suit the delivery needs of the business whilst maximising savings and value creation.
The role will support the successful delivery of UU’s business needs by providing a professional strategic Commercial service in accordance with high professional standards and business principles and in compliance with regulatory and company procedures and policies.
As a key enabler of business transformation, the role influences senior stakeholders and drives cross-functional innovation across the commercial lifecycle.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Lead the design and execution of commercial strategies aligned with corporate priorities and transformation goals.
* Engage externally to identify market trends, best practices, and innovations that inform strategic commercial choices. Continuously improve commercial performance through external benchmarking, supplier collaboration, total cost management, and process optimisation.
* Conduct proactive business needs analysis to shape fit-for-purpose commercial models and provide trusted strategic advice to senior stakeholders across business functions
* Lead cross-functional commercial initiatives that require alignment across multiple teams and governance layers.
* Navigate and balance competing stakeholder priorities. Market Insight & Value Delivery
* Proactively identify and execute opportunities to deliver sustainable value for money and leverage wider value delivery through ESG (Environmental Social and Governance), innovation and other value levers.
* Advance commercial maturity by leading knowledge sharing, capability uplift, and strategic skill development across teams, and act as a key escalation point for
* Commercial Category teams and provide timely support to the Commercial Business Manager/Head of Indirects
Technical Skills & Experience
* Relevant Degree or Professional Qualification, or relevant experience.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive adoption of strategic commercial approaches.
* Strong leadership and team-working skills, with a history of motivating cross-functional teams in commercial environments/ and or leading and implementing strategic change programmes.
* Highly developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex data into actionable strategies.
* Continuous improvement mindset and ability to balance business-wide priorities
Qualifications
* Relevant Degree or Professional Qualification - preferable but not mandatory
