Job Title: Freelance Site Agent
Location: Plymouth
Contract Type: Freelance – Outside IR35 or CIS
Start Date: July 2025
Duration: 12 months (with potential for ongoing work on future schemes)
Project Overview: A Tier 1 contractor is delivering a £7 million National Highways scheme in Plymouth and is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to lead the on-site delivery team.
This role is critical to the successful execution of the project and offers a long-term freelance opportunity, with additional schemes scheduled to follow in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Take full responsibility for day-to-day site management and project delivery
Lead and coordinate the site team, subcontractors, and suppliers
Work closely with the commercial team to manage budgets, cost control, and reporting
Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
Maintain effective communication between site, office, and client teams
Drive programme and productivity to ensure timely project completion
Manage site documentation and reporting requirementsRequirements:
Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways or civil engineering projects of a similar value (£5m–£10m+)
Strong leadership skills with experience managing site teams and subcontractors
Comfortable working closely with commercial and planning teams
In-depth understanding of National Highways specifications and processes
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
Valid CSCS card, SMSTS, and First Aid certification
