As a CHP Field Service Engineer, you will be required to deliver a very high technical and professional level of service to our customers, with significant focus on safety and quality. The aim is to achieve on time in full, to schedule and right first time. The role encompasses onsite technical assistance to customers during the installation, commissioning and maintenance of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems. You will develop and manage good customer relationships through the provision of professional customer management and provide a full engineering service and support for customers both internal and external.
The role will require extensive travel within the United Kingdom including overnight stays, often at short notice, so a flexible approach to working patterns is required.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that you fully understand the customer’s requirements prior to visiting site
* Create effective relationships within the Service and Aftermarket team and the wider organisation
* Provide technical support to colleagues and be part of the wider technical support team that supports our customers
* Provide detailed Site Reports to the required standard that highlight actions which may need to be taken and seek opportunities for improvement
* Maintain regular communications with the Field Service team
* Behaviour at all times in a manner that is in keeping with the responsibility of the position, and the image of the Company
* Supervise the activities of Company or Customer supplied Technicians, be responsible for their day-to-day safety requirements, site activities and discipline
* Diligence at all times in protecting the Company commercial and warranty liabilities
* Develop installation, maintenance and overhaul schedules
* While on site observe health and safety at work procedures and complete required Risk Assessments
* When necessary support with customer and internal training activities to help educate customer and HTUK staff in the correct operation and maintenance of equipment
Qualifications
* A solid mechanical background working with gas engines or diesel generators.
* Proven experience of working on Jenbacher, Cummins, MTU, MWM, MAN or CAT engines, complete with the relevant commissioning certification.
* Hands‑on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills.
* Able to produce detailed reports of site activities and recommendations.
* Ability to supervise others during installation, commissioning, maintenance and training activities.
* Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
* Good appreciation and understanding of business and commercial issues in relation to the role.
* Health & Safety awareness in the workplace.
