Infant Feeding Advisor 29.6hrs Fixed Term for 9 months Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata. The Department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland. The post-holders will work within the Maternal and Infant Nutrition (MIN) service which is hosted within Public Health and Health Policy. The Maternal and Infant Nutrition team works with frontline staff across Neonatal, Maternity, Family Nursing and Health Visiting services to enhance their skills and knowledge around infant feeding. The post holder will be responsible for working with key stakeholders across Lothian to implement and evaluate a maternal and infant nutrition focused public health work plan. The Maternal and Infant Nutrition Service is looking for an Infant Feeding Advisor to support community midwifery teams. The post holder will work with the existing Infant Feeding Advisors within community services to lead the work around Unicef accreditation and reducing the drop off in breastfeeding at 6-8 weeks. The successful post holder will work across NHS Lothian supporting community midwifery teams and third sector partners as well as providing direct care for mothers and infants within the breastfeeding support clinic. This post is based at Musselburgh Primary Care Centre but will require attendance at other sites to deliver training and lead the breastfeeding support clinic at the Royal Infirmary or St John’s hospital. The successful post holder will be required to work on a Monday.
