Job Description:

Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Additional Needs Base
Location: Highly Regarded Secondary School, Cardiff Area
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:15 am – 15:15 pm (full academic year)

Daily rate: £90

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a highly regarded secondary school in the Cardiff area, committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The specialised Additional Needs Base caters to pupils aged 11 to 16 with a range of learning difficulties, including global development delay, Down syndrome, dyspraxia, ADHD, and other complex needs.

The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the Additional Needs Base. You will work closely alongside subject teachers to deliver bespoke, tailored learning experiences designed to meet the unique needs of our pupils. Many of the students have the mental age of primary-aged children and benefit from shorter, focused lesson times to maintain concentration and engagement.

Your role will include:

* Supporting pupils with a variety of learning difficulties in both academic and life skills development.
* Assisting in delivering tailored lessons that promote learning and independence.
* Helping pupils develop essential life skills to aid their integration into adult life without the need for a specialist school setting.
* Encouraging social and emotional development within a supportive environment.
* Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create a nurturing and effective learning atmosphere.

Candidate Requirements:

* Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly with global development delay, Down syndrome, dyspraxia, ADHD, or similar conditions.
* Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
* Ability to support life skills development alongside academic learning.
* Commitment to promoting independence and social integration for all pupils.
* Flexibility and a positive approach to working within a specialised educational setting.

What We Offer:

* A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
* Full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 08:15 am to 15:15 pm (term time only).
* Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

If you are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and want to be part of a dedicated team that truly values every pupil’s potential, we would love to hear from you.
