Overview
A Senior Practitioner within the Safeguarding Team manages a more complex caseload of children, providing enhanced autonomy in decision‑making and case progression. The role includes assessment writing, threshold application, home visits, direct work, care planning, chairing meetings, and case recording in line with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Regular assessment writing, threshold application, home visits, direct work, care planning, chairing meetings and case recording
* Direct supervision of student social workers and/or ASYEs
* Support learning and development within the team
* Lead peer supervision and deputise for the Team Leader within the sub‑team
* Access the Practice Educator Programme to enhance professional development
Teams & Support
The Windsor and Maidenhead Safeguarding Teams collaborate with specialist workers to drive positive and sustainable change for families. The Families First model focuses on preventing case escalation and keeping children safely at home. Safeguarding Social Workers have quick and direct access to:
* Social Work Assistants
* Family Support Workers
* Family Coaches
* Domestic Abuse Victim and Perpetrator specialists
* Adult Mental Health specialists
* Drug and Alcohol specialists
* Systemic Family Psychotherapist
Every worker also has easy access to their line manager, reflective supervision every four weeks, and the opportunity to work within a supportive team environment.
Practice Model
Achieving for Children works within a Signs of Safety Practice model, striving to work alongside children and families to ensure they understand why we are involved and what needs to change to make things safer. The aim is to achieve realistic and long‑lasting change by establishing support within the family and community network.
