Hays are working with a well‑established specialist contractor, who are experiencing sustained growth and expanding their operations. As part of this development, they are seeking a Buyer to join their procurement team on a full‑time, permanent basis at their Belfast headquarters.
Your new role
In this role, you will support a range of bespoke, design‑led construction projects by managing procurement activity from sourcing through to delivery. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Working closely with project, design and operations teams to plan procurement activity aligned to project specifications.
2. Ensuring materials and services are delivered on time, within agreed cost parameters, and in line with quality standards.
3. Maintaining and updating approved supplier records, ensuring all documentation is accurate andpliant.
4. Raising purchase orders, monitoring order progress and proactively flagging risks or delays.
5. Identifying cost‑saving opportunities through analysis, benchmarking, and supplier review.
6. Overseeing supplier performance and maintaining strong, effective supplier relationships.
7. Resolving any pricing, delivery, quality, or invoicing discrepancies, including escalating non‑conformances where required.
8. Tracking order values, capturing variations andmunicating changes to the wider project team.
9. Providing support to estimating andmercial colleagues on pricing queries and tender submissions.
What you'll need to succeed
10. At least 4 years’ experience in a procurement or buying position, ideally within construction, engineering or manufacturing.
11. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
12. Previous experience using an ERP system.
13. Ability to managepeting priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
14. Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
15. A proactive approach with confidence to contribute ideas for process improvement.
16. Strongmunication skills and the ability to build and maintain productive supplier relationships.
