Waste Management Operative Loader 11 vacant positions Grade 3, £25,185 up to £26,403 per annum pro rata 37 hours per week, full time, permanent contract with potential opportunity to complete HGV Driver Training We are currently recruiting Waste Management Operatives ahead of the implementation of a new Food Waste service commencing February next year. We are very proud of our in-house waste collection services and have just invested in a brand-new fleet of Refuse Collection Vehicles in September this year with new Food Waste collection vehicles arriving February 2026. Your role will include working as part of a small team collecting food waste in our new Food Waste Collection vehicles primarily, but you may also collect other waste streams (Refuse, Dry Recycling or Garden waste) as part of the wider waste management services we provide. In addition, you will be involved in the initial distribution of food waste containers to residents prior to food waste collections commencing. You must be physically fit, able to walk long distances each day, move wheeled bins, containers or sacks and any other waste receptacles as required. High levels of customer service are essential as part of this key frontline service role. Applicants should be committed individuals who are looking to make a difference to the high-profile and priority services of the council. You will be expected to behave in accordance with the councils values which include being customer focused and courteous when interacting with members of the public, whilst ensuring service standards are met. Ever thought of becoming a Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver!? If you currently have a category B licence this would be advantageous as you are eligible to apply to train for a category C licence. Follow some of our existing staff who have successfully completed training to progress to driving roles. The training is fully funded, and we actively support staff to complete this training. Once qualified, we provide further training from our experienced drivers.
