Key Responsibilities
1. Identify, review, and plan care for patients diagnosed with AKI
2. Deliver expert, patient-centred clinical assessment and management
3. Work proactively to reduce the incidence and impact of AKI across the Trust
4. Respond to the daily needs of the inpatient AKI population
5. Provide specialist advice on fluid management, medications, and treatment planning
6. Support early recognition of deterioration and escalation of care
7. Educate and support staff to promote best practice in line with NICE guidance
8. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and service development
9. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including UHD Consultant Nephrologists and the Renal team at Dorset County Hospital.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
10. Current registration with relevant professional body
11. Enhanced Clinical Practice Qualification or willing to undertake
Desirable criteria
12. Level 7 post registration graduation qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
13. Demonstrating experience of managing a discrete aspect of a patient's care at an enhanced level of practice with specific knowledge and skills in a field of expertise with renal specialities
14. Experience of managing change as part of service and practice development
15. Minimum 3 years post registration experience
16. Experience of regular participation in research and development, leading clinical audits in own specialist area

18. Experience of developing and implementing policies and protocols
Knowledge
Essential criteria
19. Able to demonstrate highly specialised theoretical and practical, enhanced knowledge of AKI and renal specialty and common presentations
20. Understanding of the principles of effective budgetary management.

21. Clinical Assessment Skills/HAPE/History Taking and Physical Examination
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
22. Demonstrable enhanced clinical skills, within AKI pathways.
23. Ability to analyse and interpret complex information from patient assessment and interventions, and freedom to act in managing patients ‘care.
24. Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
