Leading hospice charity, the Mountbatten Group, is seeking a Communications Assistant to help craft and share messages about vital end-of-life care and the fundraising that makes it possible.
We're delighted to be able to offer this position as a full-time, fixed-term, six-month contract, reporting to the Head of Communications.
Overview of Role:
The postholder will be a creative self-starter, with great writing skills and a good working knowledge of social media platforms, working across Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire.
They could be based either side of the Solent, but regular travel between the two sites will be required as part of a well-established routine, alongside colleagues from a variety of departments.
The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of Canva and will understand the power of social media, including TikTok. They will be someone who enjoys talking to people, discovering and telling stories through press releases and website content.
Training can be given, but an understanding of video editing is preferred.
This role requires flexibility and some out-of-hours working (time-in-lieu will be given).
Key Tasks
Working across the Isle of Wight and Southampton, to assist with achieving Mountbatten's communications objectives across all platforms, including print, broadcast and digital, to raise the Mountbatten Group's profile and share its activities across its communities.
To assist with the day-to-day operation of the communications department.
To assist with taking photos, making videos, creating social media content, conducting interviews and writing content, for a variety of formats.
To assist with comms at events, including gathering content and posting on social media platforms.
To oversee the set-up and running of some events, at both Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire (including out- of-hours).
To assist with the production, editing and distribution of internal and external assets, dealing sensitively with those whose personal experiences might be featured, in accordance with Mountbatten procedures and values.
To assist in providing communications support for campaigns as requested, across different departments and sites.
To assist in ensuring consistent branding and tone of voice across all platforms, in line with Mountbatten procedures and values
To act as a brand champion, helping ensure all material, publications and events adhere to Mountbatten's brand, at all times.
To assist with maintaining and updating a catalogue of library assets e.g. photos, logos, videos.
To assist with ensuring all media enquiries are managed and responded to, in accordance with designated procedures and reflecting Mountbatten's values.
To assist with the creation and distribution of press releases and statements, as directed by the Head of Communications.
Other duties, in line with Mountbatten's principles and procedures, as directed by the Head of Communication.
