Purpose of the Role
To drive the success of the commercial banking segment through market analysis, product development, sales and relationship management, risk management, and performance.
Accountabilities
* Execute market research to understand the competitive landscape, identify market trends and opportunities, and develop strategies to capture market share within the commercial banking segment, taking into consideration industry, size, and growth stage.
* Develop appropriate pricing models for different products and services, ensuring profitability while remaining competitive.
* Develop, implement and manage innovative financial solutions, services and products aligned with the bank's objectives and tailored to the commercial banking segment, including loan products, cash management solutions and trade finance services.
* Identify and forge strategic partnerships with other financial institutions, technology providers or industry experts to expand product offerings and reach new client segments.
* Manage key stakeholder relationships within target companies to understand their needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
* Develop and implement sales strategies, including establishing sales targets, identifying sales channels to reach potential clients, and setting objectives for loan terms to support the negotiation process and development of service agreements.
* Monitor key leading and lagging metrics such as new client acquisition, loan volume, revenue generation and market share to assess the performance of the commercial banking segment.
* Optimise funnel and customer journey to deliver service and commercial performance.

Commercial Manager – Savings Responsibilities
Own the commercial performance of the customer journey, focusing on how we attract customers, retain them for longer, and encourage continued product usage as offers mature. Analyse commercial touchpoints to understand where customers convert, drop out, or disengage, and identify opportunities to improve acquisition, retention and lifetime value. Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations and partner with Customer Journey Labs to drive commercially impactful improvements across the end‑to‑end experience.
Commercial Manager – Savings Qualifications
* Great commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of how banks make money and how value is created across the P&L.
* Proven experience in financial services and/or commercial management, including a solid grasp of key business performance drivers.
* Experience designing or improving savings‑related products or customer experiences within a financial context.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and leverage complex data sets to generate analytical insights and actionable commercial recommendations.
* Considerable stakeholder management capability, with previous experience of influencing and engaging senior leaders up to Managing Director level.
* Good collaboration skills, with experience working across cross‑functional teams and diverse business areas to deliver aligned, customer‑centric outcomes.
* Solid understanding of end‑to‑end customer journeys, the ability to assess how customers move across products and touchpoints, and identify weak points, friction and drop‑off moments within journeys.
* Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate insights, issues, and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders.
* Evidence of considerable problem‑solving capability, including identifying issues, analysing root causes and implementing practical, effective solutions.

Location
This role can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
