The Role

As a Knowledge Management Officer in the Technical Data Unit, Directorate of Engineering, Systems Division in the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group (GWEO) you will be supporting the acquisition and sustainment of guided weapons and explosive ordnance used by the Australian Defence Force.
This role is responsible for ensuring the Technical Publications Team meets its records and information management obligations and carries out information support related functions within the Technical Data Unit in accordance with Defence’s requirements and obligations.
The role will entail the control and management of electronic and physical records, publishing of data and data assurance activities, reviewing of technical publications, triaging requests for assistance and advice as well as the opportunity to develop the skills required for more complex publishing tasking. You would possess experience in the administration of information and records management within a regulatory framework, including well developed experience in Microsoft and Adobe applications. There may be some opportunity for interstate travel associated with this role.
Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
About our Team
The Directorate of Engineering mission is to assure, and assist in ensuring the safety and reliability of GWEO explosive materiel. An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our specialist Publication Team where the Knowledge Management Officer will be responsible for the administration support of a technical publications library. We are seeking an energetic, action oriented person who can deliver a range of information and records management outcomes.
You will work in a dynamic team that supports the engineering management systems for GWEO. You will be required to work with a number of systems in a multi-disciplinary environment of military, APS and contractor staff. The successful applicant will work in a small team administering the management of a server-client web based application, in the form of a technical manual library. You will require adaptability and determination to provide information and records management support to staff and we will invest in your training and development to ensure your time with us is rewarding, both personally and professionally.

Highly developed written communication skills will be required to develop internal processes and documentation, and maintain information and knowledge sharing platforms. This is a desk based position involving computer use and working with others towards shared goals in a collaborative and fun team environment. We are seeking a candidate with a background in publications management and/or records management and information & knowledge management who will strive to provide an outstanding level of customer service to our clients.
