The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will be part of a team that ensures the Force Command Centre is capable of operating 24-hours per day, seven days per week, to implement any changes to these systems in a controlled manner and to provide help and guidance to all colleagues within the department.

You will supervise and support the Business Systems Team, leading the day to day activities, following strategic plans set by the Business Systems Manager.

The role provides hands on technical input, supports colleagues, and contributes to system improvements. It includes coordinating tasks, sharing knowledge, and supporting the development of team members in a collaborative environment.

Skills & Experience

The successful post holder will be educated to A-Level in directly related subject eg IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering

The ideal candidate will have specialist technical knowledge acquired through relevant and practical experience. This must be evidenced through successfully delivering a range of projects to a high standard with experience with current systems and processes including implementing new and planned initiatives, of developing and reviewing systems design and business processes to support and improve service delivery.

Ideally this will have been gained within a Contact environment – preferably within a Police or Law Enforcement organisation, or commercial IT environment.

Shortlisting and interviews will look to test candidates with:

1. Proven experience in managing and optimising technical systems within a high-demand operational environment.
2. Experience of line-managing technical staff, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
3. An understanding of system lifecycle management, including configuration, integration, and performance monitoring.
4. Experience in supporting strategic system planning and contributing to technical project delivery.
5. Able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and stakeholders.
6. Familiarity with SAAS platforms, CRM/contact management systems, and call handling technologies.
7. Experience working in a regulated environment, with knowledge of data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance standards.
8. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external suppliers to deliver system improvements.

Further Information

The post holder is required to successfully pass Vetting, and may be required to travel between Surrey Police and Sussex Police premises, with some travel outside of Force area to attend meetings.

Must be flexible to support a 24/7 operational environment, including responding to incidents and system outages.

Applicants may have to attend an Occupational Health consultation if required to be declared fit for the role, prior to confirmation of appointment.
