Haematology Advanced Clinical Practitioner
Develop and manage own workload and the service's workload flexibly to meet patient needs. Recognise limitations in knowledge and seek support when necessary. Demonstrate self-reflection, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, resilience, and openness to change. Develop advanced clinical skills in assessing and managing patients, including obtaining informed consent, history taking, screening, clinical examination, investigations, and management planning. Maintain and develop expertise in haematology oncology to collaborate with senior colleagues and facilitate patient management. Use evidence-based research for clinical decisions. Prescribe within non-medical prescribing capacity, adhering to Trust policies, including SACT, unlicensed medications, and clinical trial drugs. Prescribe blood products as per policy. Liaise with multi-professional teams, accept referrals, and refer patients to appropriate services. Communicate complex information to patients and families, including diagnosis, investigations, management options, and prognosis. Work collaboratively across organisations, develop and evaluate links, and prepare accurate records and reports. Engage with community and hospice services, contribute to clinical governance, and involve patients and carers in health promotion and self-management. Support admission and discharge processes, perform procedures safely, and develop patient information. Promote patient-centered care and participate in Trust committees and strategic initiatives. Support colleagues within the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance and contribute to integrated pathways and clinical support. Act as an expert resource, demonstrate professionalism, and, if involved in research, adhere to GCP standards.
Leadership and Management
Contribute to strategic development, serve as a role model, promote the role of advanced practitioners, and develop effective relationships. Provide leadership and supervision, lead clinical audits, and apply expertise to develop protocols and standards. Lead service improvements, risk management, and governance. Participate in clinical networks and respond to population health and research needs. Engage with PPI groups, demonstrate resilience, and manage complex situations. Participate in research-based practice, maintain professional registration, and uphold standards of conduct. Act as an advocate, lead change, and share management responsibilities.
Education
Identify personal learning needs, develop a personal development plan, and engage in continuous professional development. Participate in training and promote a learning culture. Engage in peer review, clinical supervision, mentorship, and coaching. Support team development, provide training locally and nationally, and act as an educator and mentor.
Research
Engage in research activities, adhere to good practice, contribute to the Trust's academic nursing and AHP roles, disseminate findings, and evaluate practice through audits and research. Identify evidence gaps, promote research, and facilitate links between practice and research, acting as an expert in clinical research when appropriate.
