Band 4 Healthcare Science Education Support Officer

We are seeking a motivated and organised Education Support Officer (Band 4) to join our Healthcare Science Education team at University Hospitals Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth Hospital). You'll support the planning, coordination and delivery of Healthcare Science education across the organisation. You will require excellent communication skills and will need to be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Your duties will include provision and coordination of general administrative services, co-ordination of scoping and submission of expressions of interest for future training posts, collation and analysis of education and financial data for monitoring and quality assurance, support HCS promotion, engagement and trainee activities.

Main duties of the job

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Act as the central point of enquiry via various communication methods, for HCS staff (at all levels) needing assistance with any part of the HCS education process.
* Develop user friendly, low maintenance administrative systems/databases and processes to collate and monitor information.
* Prepare education, financial and workforce information for the Senior Team.
* Assist with co-ordinating HCS events, meetings, open days and activities on behalf of the senior HCS team.
* Support the development and implementation of projects/services within the HCS Education portfolio.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Literate and numerate to GCSE level [A-C] in 5 subjects or equivalent.
* 3 A Levels or equivalent Graded C or above or
* Accredited admin/business qualification - (e.g. European Computer Driving Licence, RSA, NVQ L3 or equivalent) or relevant equivalent experience.
* Educated to NVQ level 4 in a subject which incorporates skills relevant to the post, or equivalent experience and skills / evidence of personal development in project management administration, with significant numerical/analytical /education component.


Experience

* Experience of administrative procedures and information analysis.
* Advanced professional skills in using a range of computer software including MS Office/365 and applications.
* Experience in planning and organising projects or activities.
* Experience of working with multi-professional teams and developing intelligent information from data.
* Experience of report writing / presenting to wide audience in a variety of formats.
* Awareness of Principles of Data Protection and Good Clinical Practice.
* Experience of working in a busy environment working independently and exercising judgement and decision-making skills.
* Experience of taking minutes.
* Experience working in a healthcare setting.
* Good working knowledge or a proven interest in the NHS including understanding of key targets and the performance management framework.
* An understanding of specific NHS policies.
* Understanding of Healthcare Science, career pathways and education programmes.
