Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd is seeking a first appointment EHV Cables Assistant Project Manager with a construction or electricity supply background, ideally with some experience in tendering and executing large EHV cable projects, to support ongoing tenders on various projects across England & Wales. The role involves ensuring project excellence by effectively managing scope, schedule, cost, and risk while maintaining stakeholder clarity and adhering to safety standards.
This is a hybrid position requiring site attendance to suit project needs. You should be flexible with work location, as you will be away from home periodically, traveling and working across England & Wales. Experience with NGED, SSEN, NGET, or similar transmission and distribution network operators is preferred but not essential.
The Role
As Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager and Construction Manager in overseeing project delivery by managing scope, schedule, cost, and risk. You will ensure stakeholder clarity, align with company and client goals, and uphold high standards throughout all project phases, including design and construction.
A relevant technical degree or equivalent experience is required, along with skills in data analysis, stakeholder management, cost estimation, project planning, and effective communication. Strong organizational skills and initiative are essential.
You will gain exposure to all aspects of Wood T&D's business, including commercial awareness, planning, estimating, and operational delivery, supporting your development into a qualified Project Manager. Training and formal qualifications will be provided as part of your career development plan.

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) – ongoing cabling framework with multiple projects and tenders across England & Wales.
Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) – ongoing cabling framework with projects across Scotland.

Responsibilities
* Support Project Managers in planning project details
* Maintain professionalism and respect with colleagues and clients
* Support design activities and stakeholder relationships
* Negotiate minor changes with sponsors/customers
* Review progress reports and manage external suppliers
* Proactively solve problems and attend project meetings
* Draft project documents and track progress, quality, and budgets
* Communicate effectively with team and clients
* Assist with contractor activities under supervision
