Job summary Applications are invited for a Specialist Nurse in Weight Management within the Diabetes and Metabolism Department, specifically supporting the Obesity Service at Barts Health NHS Trust, working across St Bartholomew's Hospital and Mile End Hospital. This role is a one year fixed term post which will commence from the 1st of April 2026. The role of the specialist nurse will be to work within a specialist multidisciplinary weight management service and to provide specialist multidisciplinary care to people with complex obesity. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver multidisciplinary specialist care to people living with obesity, advocating for patients and promoting excellence in practice within the obesity service. The post will offer the opportunity to contribute to departmental activities including governance, education, research and service development. Main duties of the job The Specialist Nurse in weight management will be an integral member of the Weight Management Service. The post holder will support the Adult Weight Management Service multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions to support adults who have complex obesity and associated conditions. The post holder will contribute to the assessment of patients referred to the Tier 3 Weight Management Service. They will support patients approved for weight management treatment with semaglutide 2.4mg, utilized as an adjunct to sustainable lifestyle change. The post holder will support patients implementing advice provided by the team members, support dose titration clinics and facilitate sustainable behaviour change, as well as participate in the delivery of group sessions. The post-holder will take part in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings. The post holder will liaise with a number of healthcare professionals, such as GPs, secondary care providers, in other specialities, in order to coordinate care.
