A Pipefitting Apprentice supports qualified pipefitters in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipework systems. The role combines practical, on-the-job training with formal apprenticeship learning to develop the technical skills, safety awareness, and industry knowledge required to become a competent pipefitter.
Key Responsibilities – Technical & Practical Duties
* Assist in the installation, assembly, fabrication, and fitting of pipework systems.
* Support cutting, bending, threading, and preparation of pipes and fittings.
* Learn to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and isometric diagrams.
* Assist with pressure testing, inspections, and system commissioning.
* Carry out basic maintenance and fault-finding under supervision.
* Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and correctly.
* Assist with materials handling, site preparation, and housekeeping.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
* Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
* Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and risk assessments.
* Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
* Comply with company policies and industry regulations.
Learning & Development
* Attend college as part of the apprenticeship programme.
* Work towards relevant vocational qualifications.
* Seek feedback and demonstrate continuous improvement.
* Develop knowledge of materials, systems, and industry best practice
