Job Opportunity: Faults Studies Engineer at Holtec International
Holtec International, along with its subsidiary companies, is committed to designing a safe and secure source of clean energy through the Holtec SMR-160+ small modular reactor. This position is offered by Holtec Britain, part of the global Holtec family, a provider of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation.
Join a multidisciplinary team of engineers working on the next-generation nuclear power station. The Faults Studies Engineer will be responsible for producing fault studies and supporting the development of the fault studies chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) as part of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
This role involves collaboration with the US SMR Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) team and offers a unique opportunity to be involved in emerging nuclear technology and the energy marketplace.
Experience should include:
* Knowledge of light water moderated reactors and systems.
* Fault Studies and Severe Accidents assessments, including evaluations of the reactor core, coolant system, safety features, and containment for both design basis and beyond design basis accidents.
Responsibilities:
* Electrical engineering assessments of power plant systems.
* Support the development of Fault Studies and Severe Accidents safety case sections for the Holtec SMR GDA submission.
* Mentor and develop team members' technical and personal skills.
* Prepare and deliver presentations to internal teams and external regulators.
* Participate actively in a project-driven, integrated engineering team.
* Possess a degree in engineering or a science-related discipline.
* Demonstrate strong principles of fault studies and understanding of thermal hydraulic behavior under various conditions.
* Work independently, managing competing priorities effectively.
* Exhibit strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse organizational levels and stakeholders.
* Be a credible decision-maker, capable of building confidence through strong justifications.
* Be eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
Desired Experience:
* Experience with safety analysis calculations using industry codes such as GOTHIC, RELAP5, RETRAN, COBRA, VIPRE, etc.
