THE COMPANY:
Our client is a leading international bank based in the City. They are looking for a Head of Risk to join the team in London on a permanent basis.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversight of all pillars of risks for the Bank, as a second line of defence. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of risk reports. Interpret the information at Risk and Compliance Committee, and suggest actions for consideration by Senior Management.
* Develop, enhance and annually review appropriate credit/market/operational/liquidity risk policies and procedures to comply with the Bank’s Risk Framework Document ensuring that all aspects of the risk and control frameworks are operating effectively. Update the Risk Framework Document at least annually.
* Assessment of all business risk, internal and external risks, both present and future, under the risk framework methodologies. Expert knowledge to challenge in order to mitigate risk exposure, ensuring that the Bank’s risk management framework complies with relevant legislation and regulation.
* Arrange and attend Credit Committee, and present analysis and provide challenge of new credit proposals to the authorised personnel having reviewed the credit applications proposed by customer relationship managers, set and monitor credit limits and monitor appropriate levels of risk mitigation, collateral valuations, security incomplete etc.
* Responsibility for the Non-Performing Loan Policy and Non-Performing Assets management
* Monitor market and liquidity risk exposures and positions against limits on a daily basis, and others where applicable.
* Review and update Risk Control Matrix (ensuring each Departmental Risk Matrix is regularly reassessed), updating the Risk Register on a quarterly basis.
* Responsibility for managing the firm’s internal stress-tests and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of information provided to the MC/RCC and/or regulatory bodies for the purposes of stress-testing.
* Develop and maintain the firm’s recovery plan and resolution pack and for overseeing the internal processes regarding their governance.
* Oversee all regulatory and internal limits, to ensure compliance at all times. ‘Near misses’ to be investigated and reported to Deputy General Manager& RCC.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Strong and current managerial experience of firm-wide risk oversight.
* Leadership skills including the ability to manage risk and control activities in a financial operation and including an extensive understanding of Credit, Market, Liquidity and Operational risks.
* Strong product knowledge of Trade Finance, Loan and Treasury instruments.
* Proven ability to oversee a number of risk types, including credit, market, operational, investment, regulatory and strategic risk and specifically liquidity, refinancing, concentration and counterparty risk.
