Job Summary
The Activity Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a care home setting. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among seniors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior care, particularly with experience in dementia and Alzheimer's care, ensuring that activities are tailored to meet the diverse needs of residents.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents.
* Assess individual resident needs and preferences to create personalised activity plans.
* Facilitate group activities, ensuring participation from all residents while fostering a supportive environment.
* Collaborate with nursing staff to monitor residents' health and well-being during activities.
* Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
* Organise special events, outings, and celebrations to enhance community engagement.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and gather input for future planning.
* Ensure a safe environment during all activities by adhering to health and safety regulations.
Skills
* Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is essential.
* Strong background in senior care, with specific knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's care preferred.
* Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
* Ability to demonstrate compassion, patience, and understanding towards seniors.
* Creative thinking skills to develop engaging activity programmes that cater to diverse interests.
