About the Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Project Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.

This is a key role within our Project Management Resource team which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project management professionals within the team and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project management, business development and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.

Since 1983 Hartlepool has generated over 258 TWh of zero carbon electricity which is enough to power every home in the Tees Valley for 204 years, avoiding 90m tonnes of CO2 emissions, or like taking 43m cars off UK roads for a year.

You will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible; however, the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Supporting Project Managers and Construction Managers in managing allocated work from assignment to closeout, ensuring work is conducted safely, timely, and effectively.
2. The role will be based at EDF Hartlepool and will require occasional business travel to UK sites/stations. In this role, you will report to the Operations Manager but be directly accountable for project delivery to the client.
3. Demonstrating experience working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.
4. Having strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks, being results-focused with a team-centered approach.

Typically, you will be a Chartered Engineer or hold an HND qualification.

A Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification is required. Candidates holding the APMP formal project management qualification or equivalent and versed in modern project management techniques are preferred.

Experience in identifying, implementing, and complying with safety, environmental, and quality standards, company procedures, policies, and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements is necessary.

You will prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including quality plans, technical specifications, and support contractor selection and contract management, including technical review of contractor documents and drawings.

You will also manage technical queries in accordance with processes and procedures, including appraisals of project options, feasibility studies, site surveys, and liaising with designers and station engineering staff.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria.
