Maintenance Engineer Derby £30,000 - £35,000 Job Overview: We are seeking a proactive and versatile General Maintenance Operative to join our team in Derby. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the site. This role includes involvement in Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities. Key Responsibilities: Perform basic plumbing tasks, such as repairing leaks, unblocking drains, and replacing taps and fixtures. Carry out basic electrical work, including replacing light bulbs and fuses Undertake general carpentry duties, such as changing door closures, fixing minor structural repairs, and other general maintenance tasks. Assist with basic decorating duties, including painting, and maintaining the appearance of various areas. Ensure that all tasks are completed in line with safety regulations and company policies. Respond to reactive maintenance requests promptly and efficiently. Keep the work environment tidy and safe at all times, reporting any hazards immediately. Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure maintenance tasks are completed on time. Key Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in general maintenance or similar roles. Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and decorating skills. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work to a high standard and manage time effectively. Must be reliable, self-motivated, and proactive in carrying out tasks. Desirable: Experience working within an industrial environment. Any additional qualifications in maintenance or specific trade areas (e.g., plumbing, electrical).
