We are now seeking a compassionate and motivated Theatre Support Worker to join one of our dedicated Operating Main Theatres scrub team.
As a Theatre Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the smooth running of our theatre complex by being part of a team that delivers safe, high‑quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Our Main Theatres department provides peri‑operative care to patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery across a range of specialities, including:
* General Surgery
* Breast Surgery
* Orthopaedics
* Gynaecology
* Urology
* Acute & Trauma
* Obstetrics
We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, covering acute, trauma, elective general, gynae and obstetric surgery from our five operating theatres, one obstetric theatre and a recovery area. Quality and safety are paramount, but we also strive to provide patient care that is grounded in empathy, compassion and kindness.
Main duties of the job
* Prepare theatres for surgery, ensuring equipment and instruments are ready and sterile.
* Assist in the safe transfer of patients to and from theatres.
* Provide reassurance and support to patients before, during and after procedures, adopting high professional standards and holistic behaviour.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
* Collaborate with nurses, anaesthetists and surgeons to ensure efficient theatre lists.
* Communicate efficiently with all patients' delivery services across the department and the trust.
* Adhere to the policy and procedures set by the service and healthcare directive.

Qualifications
* Care Certificate
* Moving and Handling Certificate
* Theatre work experience
* Evidence of practical training or education in a care setting
* Basic Life Support Certificate
* GCSE qualifications grade 4-9 (A* - C)
* Maths and English level 2
* Knowledge and skills in IT
* Current or previous NHS work experience
* Experience of team working
