Relationship Manager (Business Development) – Business Banking

About the role
We are looking for a driven Relationship Manager to join a Business Banking team covering Commercial and Transaction Banking. You’ll support the GM and CEO in growing the business through new client acquisition, product enhancement and excellent relationship management. The role focuses on delivering commercial outcomes while ensuring strong regulatory and risk standards.
Key responsibilities
* Business development: Target and onboard new clients across focus sectors (NBFI, Payments, Banking, FX), driving growth in transaction banking.
* Relationship management: Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with clients, partners and internal teams.
* Market strategy: Research market opportunities and align outreach with the bank’s strategic objectives.
* Client retention: Create client contact and retention programmes to improve engagement and product uptake.
* Product & service development: Help shape banking solutions that respond to client needs.
* Compliance & risk: Ensure adherence to all regulatory and internal policies, including Treating Customers Fairly and Consumer Duty principles.
* Collaboration & support: Work closely with senior management and colleagues to deliver business targets and support wider bank initiatives.
Experience & skills
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in Transactional, Retail or Commercial Banking or within a Non-Bank Financial Institution (payments sector experience desirable).
* Proven track record of meeting sales targets and growing client share of wallet.
* Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
* Solid understanding of FX, payments and client savings services.
* Awareness of UK regulatory requirements, AML/financial crime and risk management preferred.
* Confident communicator with persuasive negotiation skills.
Working pattern & conditions
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday) with flexibility to meet business needs.
* Travel: Primarily UK-based travel as required.
* Reports: This role has no direct reports.
* Salary circa £70,000.00 PA + Bonus + Benefits
