Our Role
As the Overhead Line Policy Engineer, you will support the development and delivery of ENWL's engineering Overhead line strategies associated with its use of equipment at all voltage levels, with responsibility for the following:
* Development and management of company policies & standards relating to the design, operation & maintenance of all overhead line (OHL) assets.
* Ensure policies & standards are consistent with the company's risk profile & business planning.
* Supporting the approval, auditing and as appropriate the witness testing for new and retrofit equipment for use on the network including travel as required.
* Lead technical investigations into defects and mal operations, completing Modification development as required.
* Work with Operations and the Academy to ensure compliance with approved policy.
* Innovation and research of OHL strategy to enable outperformance of the business plan.
* Technical tender assessment
* National standards and liaison
* Advice and support to internal customers
What we're looking for
* HNC in Electrical Engineering (Essential).
* Minimum of five years' experience in one or more of the following, Overhead line manufacture, construction and maintenance of electricity distribution networks, Policy management. (Essential).
* An understanding of electrical engineering and of distribution networks. (Essential)
* An ability to see the essential business issues, and to understand what work contributes to Electricity North West's long-term benefit, and what does not. (Essential)
* Presentational skills and public speaking. (Essential)
* Ability to analyse and present statistical data. (Essential)
* Develop company policy and specifications. (Essential)
* Ability to self-manage. (Essential)
* Business Focus, developing and achieving strategic business plans objectives. (Essential)
* IT skills including Word and Excel. (Essential)
* Knowledge and experience in distribution network assets.(Essential).
