Overview
We're looking for a proactive individual with a strong network of connections in the Eastbourne and local community to join our board of trustees at Holding Space.
What difference will you make?
Your involvement on the Board will be a lifeline for our services. We currently have a small number of trustees already doing incredible work for the charity, but we need additional support — particularly from an individual who can bring their local connections and knowledge of the community to the team.

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage potential supporters and represent the charity effectively.
* Strategic thinking and decision-making at senior level.
* Confidence in networking and influencing individuals and organisations.
* Experience building relationships with corporate sponsors, local businesses, or philanthropists.
* Experience working within a team or committee to shape organisational direction.
* Fundraising and/or events management experience — ideally within the charity, community, or not-for-profit sector (desirable, not essential).
* Passion for supporting the mental health of parents and carers; strong local knowledge and community connections.
* Integrity, commitment, and reliability; a collaborative and positive attitude with a willingness to get involved.
* Lived experience as a parent is desirable; not essential to have trustee experience.
* Open to applicants from diverse backgrounds; commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

What will you be doing?
As a small charity, we're focusing on fundraising and events to ensure our services remain an accessible resource for parents and carers in 2026 and beyond. You would join our Board of Trustees to strengthen the charity at a highly strategic level and help influence support from corporate partners and philanthropists through your local connections. This role emphasises governance, strategic planning, and fundraising input to sustain services. If you have experience in fundraising and events, this is a huge bonus to help inform the strategy.
We are a charity that provides 1-2-1 peer support and facilitates community connections for parents and carers whose children are experiencing mental health challenges. Support is provided by trained volunteers with lived experience, both by phone and face to face, plus social activities such as coffee mornings to help families connect.
We welcome applications from all individuals with a keen interest in family mental health and enthusiasm for positive change.
