We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive secondary school in Newham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You may work with individuals or small groups, supporting a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
Provide in-class support to students with SEND across a range of subjects
Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions
Support students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs
Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans
Promote positive behaviour and inclusion
Assist with monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff
Support students' independence, confidence, and wellbeing
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience preferred)
A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Relevant qualifications or training in SEND are desirable but not essential
