SK Environmental Solutions Limited, established in 2010, is a nationwide independent environmental and ecological consultancy based in Cumbria. Our team is dedicated to delivering expert advice and surveys to guide clients, turning biodiversity policies into practice.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for an Ecologist. The Ecologist will be responsible for conducting field work, analysing data related to wildlife and botany, and writing detailed reports. Additional responsibilities include conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and providing expert advice on biodiversity matters. Understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain is desirable and experience of using the Statutory Metric.
The main office is located near Penrith, Cumbria - however we are currently working nationwide and therefore are interested in applicants from other parts of the country.
Qualifications
* Skills related to Wildlife and Botany
* Experience in Field Work and Environmental Impact Assessments
* Proficiency in Report Writing
* Excellent communication and analytical skills
* Ability to work both independently and in a team
* Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
* Previous experience of working within an ecological consultancy is a plus
Successful candidates will:
Essential
·Be able to undertake a wide range of ecological surveys which will involve ensuring that work is delivered on time and is delivered to the client’s satisfaction;
·A through understanding of BNG and condition assessments;
·Be capable of writing and producing concise ecological reports that are compliant with relevant legislation and meet the needs of the client, both in terms of satisfaction and client deadlines;
·Have experience of surveying for UK protected species;
·Be able to manage own time to ensure that work is delivered on time and to the required standards.
Desirable
·Hold at least one Natural England survey licence (e.g. great crested newts or bats);
·Have experience of protected species licensing with the aim of being a named ecologist on a European Protected Species Licence; and
·Be able to help to achieve team and personal sales targets through building good client relationships, undertaking sales activities such as writing proposals, and assisting with tenders.
Personal specification
·Must have a full, clean driving licence;
·Must have access to your own car;
·The ability to adapt to flexible working hours;
·Be comfortable working away from home for short periods of time;
·Previous experience with ecological survey work; and
·Be a member of CIEEM (or be working toward it).
