The role Working within the People Team, the Internal Communications Officer is responsible for the day-to-day delivery, governance and continuous improvement of our new internal communication channel via Viva Engage and specifically the All Company community. You will support organisational culture, wellbeing and inclusion by creating relevant, people-centred content and by ensuring colleagues across the business feel informed, listened to and connected. Key responsibilities Own the operational management of Viva Engage, acting as the primary administrator and content lead for the All Company community Create and curate engaging internal communications content and content schedules, including business updates, colleague stories, wellbeing and inclusion campaigns, sharing charity activity and key announcements Take a journalistic approach to identifying stories and news across the business, including attending events and visiting branches to gather insight and feedback Work closely with Marketing, the in-house magazine editor and operational teams to ensure consistent, high-quality and aligned internal communications Maintain clear guidance, standards and governance for the effective and appropriate use of Viva Engage, including moderation and administration Promote internal communication channels through training, awareness sessions and coaching for colleagues and managers Monitor engagement and usage data, providing insight, feedback and recommendations to continuously improve communication effectiveness Working closely with the recruitment team regarding maintaining content on our recruitment careers page and highlighting vacancies in the business Working arrangements The role is 30 hours per week over five days and can be flexibly arranged with the successful candidate, provided a minimum of four hours is worked each day. Flexible approach to working hours Regular travel to branches and suppliers, with occasional overnight stays A full driving licence is desirable About you Essential Experience in a communications-focused role (marketing, people or similar) where creating content and communications has been a key focus Passionate about communication, storytelling and colleague engagement Friendly, approachable, reliable and self-motivated Strong written communication skills with excellent attention to detail Confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and audiences and leading conversations Comfortable analysing engagement data and using insight to shape activity Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) to an intermediate level Desirable Experience using Viva Engage or similar internal social platforms Understanding of retail environments and retail colleague communication Photography, video editing or graphic design skills (e.g. Canva or Adobe tools) What do we give in return?
