If so, The Pet Butler is looking for a dedicated and reliable Dog Walker/Pet Sitter to join our team in covering Southsea. As a Dog Carer you will play a crucial role in ensuring that dogs in our care receive the exercise, attention, and care they deserve.
Please note: This position is to take over an existing group of dogs from a current member of staff who will soon be leaving. You will be stepping into a well-established round, with consistent clients and dogs already familiar with the routine.
Full training and shadowing will be provided to ensure a smooth handover and help you build confidence with the group. Support will be in place during the transition period.
However, confidence in walking a group of dogs is essential for this role. We are looking for someone who is calm, responsible, and comfortable handling multiple dogs at once in a safe and controlled manner.

Responsibilities:
Dog Walking: Safely and responsibly walk dogs from various breeds and sizes, ensuring their well-being and exercise needs are met.
Transportation: Use your own car to pick up and drop off dogs to and from their homes or designated locations.
Compassionate Care: Provide love, attention, and companionship to dogs during walks, and whilst in your home ensuring they have a positive and enjoyable experience.
Safety: Maintain a keen awareness of your surroundings and any potential risks while in your home and walking dogs, taking necessary precautions to keep them safe.
Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication, providing updates on pets' activities, behaviour, and any concerns to our customers.
Schedule Management: Ensure timely arrivals and departures for dog collections/drop offs, following the schedule.Health and Hygiene: Properly clean up after dogs during walks and dispose of waste in accordance with local regulations.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle unexpected situations or emergencies, such as inclement weather, or minor first aid if necessary.
Requirements:
YOU MUST own house or flat with secure garden and preferably no cats is essential to be able to obtain a home boarding license for this role
YOU MUST live within the city of portsmouth or very close surrounding area (PLEASE NOTE, WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY APPLICATIONS FOR PEOPLE LIVING OUTSIDE OF THIS AREA)
A valid driving license and access to a large car for transportation
Availability: Monday to Friday during standard business hours, extra hours will include weekends and evenings.
A deep love for and natural affinity with animals, particularly dogs.
Physical fitness and stamina to handle walking multiple dogs daily.
Strong communication skills and a client-centric approach.
Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Knowledge of basic dog behavior and training techniques is a plus.

Full public liability insurance and Canine First Aid Training will be provided as well as a 30% contribution towards boarding license costs
