General Information: Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.
Responsibilities: The Division of Health Sciences at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. If you are currently a nurse with at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and would like to help educate our future nurses, consider teaching part-time with Brightpoint Community College in our nursing program as an adjunct faculty. Applicants are being considered for openings in the Spring 2015 for medical-surgical, pediatric, and OB clinical classes. Orientation to the responsibilities will be provided by full-time faculty or the Nursing Director. Course textbooks provided as well as orientation to Brightpoint classroom support software. Adjunct faculty provides traditional delivery instruction at the Brightpoint Nursing Education Center or clinical instruction at various local hospital campuses. Courses may be taught during the day and evening, on weekdays and/or weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Must successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to employment.Additional Considerations:
Master’s degree in Nursing preferred with prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level. Ability to use instructional technologies.
