We are looking for a Graduate Mental Health Worker to join our team at HMP Brinsford!
Our Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team at HMP Brinsford is looking for a dynamic and experienced Graduate Mental Health Worker. Our team is innovative, forward thinking and committed to a recovery focused approach. Main duties of the job
As a Graduate Mental Health Worker you'll assist in the assessment of care needs & formulation, implementation & evaluation of programmes of care for individuals. You'll deliver relevant forms of psychosocial & psychologically informed care under agreed levels of supervision. You'll assist in identifying strategies to support mental wellbeing & promotion of self-care & social inclusion. You'll communicate and work collaboratively with Mental Health team colleagues & prison teams to meet the needs of patients. You'll support the delivery of timely access to integrated, high quality, service user-centred services that enable people with mental health needs, &/or substance use issues to improve their well-being and functionality, thereby preventing, reducing or delaying the need for more specialist services. As part of the integrated team, under the supervision of qualified mental health practitioners, you'll work to ensure that the needs of service users are addressed by offering appropriate interventions in both one to one & group settings. This will include promoting wellbeing, independence and choice whilst preventing, reducing or delaying the greater onset of need. You'll be expected to adhere to relevant policy and procedure. You will liaise with other professionals and agencies both statutory & non-statutory to provide holistic care & treatment. The co-facilitation of group work will be an expectation of the role. To be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, working with individuals who are experiencing mental health issues, providing targeted Mental Health interventions (in one to one and group settings) under the instruction/supervision of registered Mental Health professionals.
To engage identified individuals in low intensity support and interventions that focus on mental health awareness, well-being and mental health promotion.
To support prevention of and early intervention in mental health difficulties supporting all service users to develop self-efficacy and resilience and a personal mental health / mind plan
Support and work with the team to improve the interface between services for people with mental health difficulties.
Work with the Mental Health Practitioners in the team to provide tailored individual care and support plans describing anticipated treatment/s and support packages that promote recovery including a focus on psycho-social and psychologically informed interventions in both one to one and group settings.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in a relevant field e.g. psychology, criminology, mental health
Experience
* Experience of working with people with mental health needs.
* Experience of delivering Mental Health interventions and signposting for mild to moderate mental illness.
* Supporting people with activities of daily living and promoting self-care and social functioning.
