Details:
Have a rota to be in the office 1 day a week depending on the rota.
Currently have 1 team to look after.
Manage the triage and section 42 processes for the North locality team, addressing backlog issues and supporting service/HR management.
Support transitions for the North Locality team.
Extensive knowledge of section 42 and team management required.
The team comprises 5 members, currently 8 members are in place.
Based in the Civic, working alongside various other teams.
Maintain strategic links to the hub with oversight responsibilities.
Work closely across the city, providing operational support.
General Role Description
As part of the management team, the Team Leader will manage an adult social care team, developing practice principles aligned with our framework. The role involves working with individuals to understand and support what matters to them, ensuring safeguarding and support in line with the Care Act 2014. The Team Leader ensures service objectives are met and that adult social care is integrated into the council’s performance management, with mechanisms to monitor data, finance, quality, and targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
1. Managing daily operations, ensuring timely, proportionate, and legally compliant responses, involving individuals in decisions about their lives, and embedding coproduction.
2. Providing expertise, advice, and guidance on legal literacy and best practices.
3. Supporting practitioners in developing and reviewing safeguarding and support plans, including Section 42 enquiries and Self Neglect (SNAP).
4. Chairing and overseeing professional meetings, including Section 42 Enquiries under the Care Act 2014.
5. Collaborating with stakeholders to develop safeguarding policies and procedures.
6. Promoting asset/strength-based assessments to enhance independence, choice, and control.
7. Participating in legal proceedings, reporting, risk management, and court appearances as needed.
Deputise for the Head of Service and Service Manager as required, providing cover for colleagues.

* DIPSW or equivalent Social Work qualification.
* Registration with Social Work England.
