About The Role Cura Terrae Land & Nature Location : Basingstoke Salary Info: PA: £25800-26800 SA: £26800-28500 About The Opportunity Cura Terrae Land and Nature, formerly Ecus, is looking for Archaeology candidates to join the Archaeology team based in our Basingstoke office. You will be engaged in a range of site-based work across the Southeast of England working on both ‘home’ and ‘away’ jobs. Posts are available for immediate start and will be six month full-time fixed term contracts. We are seeking individuals who want to learn new skills and take on a variety of projects and types of work. Following the award of future projects there may be opportunities for contract extensions, for working with colleagues from other regional offices, and to gain a range of office- as well as site-based skills. We are actively looking for Project Archaeologists and Archaeology Supervisors who possess real enthusiasm for their work. We are happy to hear from candidates with a range of relevant experience and welcome applications from those early in their career, as well as those looking to move up to Supervisor roles. Applicants should be based in Southern England (Up to one hour commutable to Basingstoke), or willing to move, and possessing a clean driver’s licence is essential. Supervisors Responsibilities Ensure all archaeological project work performed meets professional standards in accordance with Company policies and procedures and is legally compliant. Maintain proficiency in any or all the following: excavation, field survey, post-excavation skills. Work safely in accordance with Company Health & Safety requirements and report any health and safety concerns to the project lead. Be able to work independently with instruction and direction from a project lead, and be responsible for day-to-day running of site works while supervising small teams. Mentor trainees and less-experienced Graduate Trainees and Project Archaeologists in accordance with the Training Programmes. Proactively manage your work, and that of assigned staff, to ensure tasks you are responsible for are delivered in accordance with agreed scopes and timescales. Carry out post-excavation duties under direction to scope, time and budget. With support and guidance, be capable of competent reporting skills, including pre-commencement documents. Accurately report all time and resource spend on tasks in the specified timeframe and format. Carry out all and any other such duties, including geophysical surveys, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role. This is the perfect role for an experienced archaeologist ready to step up to a supervisory position. Project Archaeologist Duties/Requirements Provide support to the project lead in the delivery of archaeological projects to professional standards. Be competent in basic hand excavation and recording techniques, with supervision and ongoing skills training provided. Work safely in accordance with Company Health & Safety requirements. Improve and develop skillsets and expertise, engaging with guidance and training to maintain personal and professional development. Represent the Company in a professional and positive manner.
