We are working with a highly respected law firm seeking an experienced Costs Draftsman to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to work on high-quality cases within a supportive and flexible environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing Points of Reply, Points of Dispute, and assisting with negotiations.
* Providing accurate costs advice to solicitors and fee earners.
* Attending detailed assessment hearings as required.
* Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
* Navigating the detailed assessment process, which involves a formal review of the costs claim by an independent assessor.
* Negotiating with opposing parties to reach settlements or advocating for the firms position in disputes.
* Preparing and advising on costs budgets, which outline estimated costs for a case.
* Evaluating costs for both clients and solicitors, ensuring accurate and fair recovery of fees.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Costs Draftsman/Costs Lawyer within a legal environment.
* Strong technical knowledge of CPR and case law relating to costs.
* Skilled in drafting bills, schedules, and budgets across a variety of case types.
* Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and drafting skills.
* Confident communicator with the ability to advise and negotiate effectively.
* A Costs Lawyer Professional Qualification or equivalent qualification
* At least 2 years' experience is essential
* Experience in handling Housing Disrepair Costs
* Excellent knowledge of costs law and the Civil Procedure Rules
