Description
As a Production Coordinator in a fast-paced TV news environment, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of daily news output. This includes managing production logistics, coordinating staff and freelance rosters, and supporting editorial and technical teams. You will play a central role in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring the newsroom is resourced effectively and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
Staffing & Roster Coordination
1. Create, publish, and maintain rotas for staff and freelance teams across the newsroom
2. Monitor and record hours worked, absences, and shift changes
3. Ensure compliance with ITN’s Working Periods policy and working time regulations
4. Book freelancers in line with finance, tax, and employment status guidelines
5. Authorise and track weekly freelance cost sheets, including justification and budget tracking
6. Liaise with department heads to ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill coverage
7. Build and maintain training schedules and long-term roster plans
8. Apply HR policies consistently to staffing issues and escalate where necessary
Production Logistics
9. Compose and distribute production schedules and call sheets
10. Attend and contribute to daily production meetings
11. Organise travel, accommodation, work permits, visas, and insurance for crews and contributors
12. Source and manage equipment and supplies for shoots and studio operations
13. Support the setup of pre-recorded material in the studio gallery
Administrative Support
14. Type, edit, and distribute scripts and running orders
15. Prepare shot lists, logs, and post-production paperwork
16. Manage accounts, expenses, and supplier relationships

17. Experience in a production coordination role, ideally in a live news or broadcast environment
18. Strong understanding of staff scheduling, freelance booking, and resource planning
19. Experience using roster software ( Dayforce, ScheduALL) and Microsoft Office
20. Excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills
21. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
22. Calm, proactive, and adaptable under pressure
23. Financial awareness and ability to manage cost implications of staffing decisions
24. Confident in negotiating shift changes and managing last-minute cover
