University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is looking for a Consultant Cardiologist with specialist interest in complex devices and inherited cardiac conditions to join our expanding team.

Main duties of the job
This is a full‑time post for a Consultant Cardiologist with complex device and ICC or heart failure expertise at the University Hospitals of the North Midlands.
* Diagnosis and treatment of ward and out‑patients in cardiology; regular ward rounds on the cardiology wards.
* Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in charge, including delegation and staff training.
* Ward consults/referrals when on call.
* Provision of two outpatient clinics per week, specialising in ICC management or heart failure, with a general cardiology component.
* On‑call commitment for cardiology (1:11); includes weekday (Mon‑Thu) and weekend (Fri‑Sun) cover with daily post‑take ward round for review of all cardiology patients. Time off in lieu can be considered for weekend working by mutual agreement with the directorate team.
* Delivery of a minimum of two catheter‑lab sessions per week for implantation of both simple and complex devices.
* Administrative duties associated with running clinical work; full secretarial support and fully equipped office and IT facilities are provided.
* Participation in professional activities required for revalidation, including clinical audit.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration.
* Certification of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) or European Community Rights, with proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview.
* MRCP(UK) or equivalent.
* Higher research degree.
* Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCME).
Experience
* Specialty training in devices.
* Fellowship in inherited cardiac conditions.
* General management of patients with cardiac conditions.
* Experience developing and implementing new technologies or teams in a hospital environment.
* Accreditation: BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA.
* Fellowship in inherited cardiac conditions or heart failure.

* Ability to work effectively with colleagues and within a team.
* Attendance at MDT meetings.
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications
* Substantial experience in research including recruitment to clinical trials.
* Willingness to participate in audit programmes.
* Publications, presentations and previous audit projects. ICH‑GCP certificate.
* Evidence of continuing research.
Management and Administrative Experience
* Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Leadership training and experience.
* Evidence of implementing change within a department/service.
* Willingness to undertake a leadership role.
Personal Attributes
* Ability and means to meet the travel requirements of the post.
* Residence within 20 miles of base (return to base within 30 minutes if required).
* Accessibility by telephone for on‑call duties.
