Role
School Nursing Service provides an open‑access service to families and communities across home, community, and primary care settings. The role promotes healthy lifestyles within the local population with a particular focus on identified HSCP health needs and priority groups such as school‑aged children, young people, and vulnerable families.
Location and Working Pattern
* Base location – Greenock Health Care Centre
* Permanent, Full‑time
* Shift pattern – Monday–Friday 9:00–17:00
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver an open‑access school nursing service to families and communities.
* Promote healthy lifestyles and address local public health priorities.
* Focus on the needs of school‑aged children, young people, and vulnerable families.
* Work across home, community, and primary care settings.
Qualifications and Experience
* First‑level nursing registration.
* Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nurse or Public Health Nurse) degree on the third part of the NMC register.
* Evidence of ongoing post‑registration CPD, including essential CAMHS training and HEI modules supporting the refocused School Nursing role.
* Current driving licence.
* Knowledge of national and local public health initiatives.
* Knowledge of Getting it Right for Every Child and the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.
* Knowledge of relevant SIGN guidelines and best‑practice statements.
* Understanding of national and local child protection guidelines.
* Experience working with children and young people.
