We're looking for a ambitious and passionate Chef to assist our Head Chef in leading our kitchen team.
Job Description:
As a Chef at Jessie's Café, you will be an integral part of our kitchen team, supporting the Head Chef in managing daily operations and ensuring that our all-day breakfast and brunch offerings meet the highest standards of quality. Whether it's a perfectly cooked breakfast, a fresh flipped pancake, or an indulgent brunch dish, you'll help ensure that every meal leaves our customers smiling.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced chef to contribute to a fun, creative environment and work with locally sourced ingredients in a bustling café setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Head Chef: Assist in managing kitchen operations, including overseeing food preparation, ensuring consistency, and helping maintain high standards in the absence of the Head Chef.
* Breakfast & Brunch Specialties: Prepare, cook, and present all-day breakfast and brunch dishes, with a focus on fresh ingredients, seasonal produce, and tidy presentation.
* Menu Development: Collaborate with the Head Chef to create and update menu ideas, including seasonal specials, daily offerings, and new brunch options that reflect customer favourites and current food trends.
* Stock Management: Oversee inventory, assist with ordering, and ensure proper stock rotation to reduce waste and keep costs in check.
* Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a clean, organised kitchen that adheres to food safety regulations and health & safety guidelines.
* Customer Experience: Ensure the quality and presentation of every dish meets the high standards our customers have come to expect, while working closely with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless service.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience as a Chef.
* Strong background in preparing breakfast and brunch dishes is desirable but not essential.
* An eye for fresh, high-quality ingredients and creative presentation.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
* Experience in leading and motivating kitchen teams, with a collaborative approach.
* Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP, COSHH).
* Passion for fresh, locally sourced food, with an interest in seasonal produce and brunch trends.
* Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.

Salary based upon an average 40 hour working week.
