We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team. Your main base location will be Heathrow Airport, and the successful applicant must live within a 1-hour commute from there.
There may be an expectation to attend site at Hemel Hempstead and other UK sites when required.
The ideal candidate will have broad experience and training in supporting one or more products in the non-intrusive detection field. Must be team-oriented, flexible, and willing to share information and assist peers. Candidates should possess advanced electromechanical product training, including technical and operator training, and be capable of conducting operator-level training for end users. Strong communication skills, troubleshooting methodology, and at least an intermediate technical knowledge of products are required.
You must be able to be cross-trained on all products in the company’s portfolio and service them across the UK. Willingness to work on high-visibility projects and resolve common-mode problems independently or with others is essential. Basic PC application skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required for providing clear, concise summaries.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, servicing, installing, and repairing equipment at customer sites, maintaining service logs, and providing technical support to the field service community. You will also conduct follow-up calls with customers to ensure system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
* Install, repair, and maintain equipment; provide customer training.
* Document inspections, maintenance, and repairs; submit paperwork promptly.
* Order and manage parts; review logs for issues and prepare reports.
* Participate in sales opportunities and promote revenue programs.
* Maintain tools and test equipment; recommend product modifications.
* Provide technical support and participate in site surveys and special projects.
* Maintain technical knowledge of products and clear communication skills.
* Build relationships with senior field service engineers and product specialists.
* Control costs and work extended hours or travel as needed.
* Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.
Technical Knowledge:
* Associated degree, ONC, HNC, or equivalent technical training or experience.
* Experience with mechanical and air-conditioning systems is desirable.
* Experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.
* Proficiency with MS Office and specialized software; use of metrology tools.
* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems support activities.
Skills and Abilities:
* Must have lived/worked in the UK for at least 5 years due to security clearance requirements.
* Valid UK driving license.
* Ability to work independently, be proactive, reliable, and accountable.
* Excellent customer service, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to travel at short notice and possess own credit card for expenses.
* Team-oriented, flexible, and eager to share knowledge.
