Senior Healthcare Support Worker, Urology

Responsibilities
* Assist in Flexible cystoscopy suite.
* Maintain the highest possible standards of compassionate and professional patient care, with particular attention to privacy and dignity.
* Assist patients with personal care and hygiene.
* Assist in skin and pressure area care to prevent pressure ulcers, including moving patients under supervision to prevent discomfort.
* Assist with catheter care and teaching.
* Assist with urology clinics.
* Perform Uroflow.
* Perform venepuncture.
* Utilise appropriate moving and handling aids to reduce the risk of injury to the patient and self.
* Assist registered staff in taking and recording vital signs as per the patient's plan of care.
* Communicate observations of a patient's condition to the nurse in charge.
* Answer telephone in accordance with Trust standards and refer calls to the nurse in charge as appropriate.
* Escort patients from the Urology centre/UDOS to other departments within the hospital in accordance with standards of practice and care.
* Report incidents, accidents, concerns, near misses or complaints to the nurse in charge.
* Adhere to infection control policy and procedures.
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English.
* NHS Care Certificate (or to be obtained within the first 6 months).
* Health & Social Care Level 3.
Knowledge and Skills
* Good knowledge of the fundamentals of nursing care.
* Basic knowledge of how the NHS works.
Experience
* Minimum of 6 months experience in a role involving care for others or providing customer services.
* Previous NHS or private sector health care experience.
