Role Specification Job Title: Shift Engineer (Mechanical Bias) Location: Leeds Oncology Project Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor General Overview Join a dynamic maintenance team delivering essential services to ensure the hospital operates at the highest standards. This role involves: Working on a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern Providing a customer-facing, responsive maintenance service for Leeds Oncology Wing Performing reactive and planned maintenance tasks to exceptional standards Offering technical guidance to team members Training to undertake Authorised Person duties Managing a small shift team of Maintenance Craftsmen and Assistants Key Responsibilities Lead and support the shift team Maintain, repair, test, and inspect building, mechanical, and electrical systems Participate in a 24/7/365 rotating shift pattern Provide cover for absent colleagues Ensure compliance with statutory, NHS, Trust, and internal guidelines Maintain and repair systems including: Heating and domestic water services Electrical services (lighting, power) Air handling units LV electrical distribution and switchgear Emergency standby generators Fire alarms and emergency lighting Electrical control systems Building Management Systems Maintain records and service reports Assist with minor installation and upgrade works Undertake training and act as Competent or Authorised Person Liaise with other healthcare projects as required Perform overtime when necessary Qualifications & Experience Time-served engineer with minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience Healthcare experience desirable but not essential Cross-trade experience advantageous Package Salary: £33,900 15% shift allowance (£5,085) = £38,985 per annum or 15-30 an hour We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our company.
