We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated salaried GP to join our dynamic, progressive and supportive practice for 2 sessions per week on a fixed term contract until 31/03/2027.

Main duties of the job The job entails providing excellent clinical care to our practice patient population. The main responsibilities of the role will be to deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standard of care. We offer structured clinics which include 15-minute appointments. You will be supported by our three GP Partners, skilled nursing team, knowledgeable reception and admin team, Clinical Pharmacist, Mental Health Practitioner and Practice Manager.

About us We are a well-established GP practice located in Bolton, not far from the town centre. We are a three GP Partner practice with a practice list size of around 1000 patients. Swan lane Medical Center employs a supportive team comprised of an experience ANP, 3 part-time Practice Nurses, 2 full time HCAs, a secretarial/admin/reception team, Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager. Our staff members are experienced and many of our employees are long-serving. We are also part of a forward thinking and collaborative Primary Care Network and benefit from many different ARRS roles including 3 GPs, ACP, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and Mental Health Practitioner and GP Assistant. We are a high performing practice.

Job responsibilities The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP within Primary Care:

Provide high quality medical care to patients registered with the practice.

Provide a full range of services in line with the requirements of the GMS/PMS (17c) Contract and Enhanced Services Contracts.

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations including telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, dealing with queries, patient test results and own generated admin.

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines.

Refer patients as appropriate and in accordance with local guidelines and utilising advice and guidance.

Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation;

Maintain good clinical records (manual/electronic) in line with good practice and in accordance with practice procedures including appropriate coding as agreed in the practice

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible);

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.

Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, GMC guidance or good medical practice

Effective management of Long-Term Conditions

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.

Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.

Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process, commit to self-learning along with continuing personal professional development.

Prepare and complete the re-validation process.

Other Responsibilities In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

Supporting the practice staff and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, secretarial and nursing staff.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment of the Practice.

Participate in practice audits as requested by Clinical Leads.

Person Specification Qualifications

Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and inclusion on the NHS England Performers List; with evidence of up to date clinical practice and commitment to high standards of patient care.

Current and full UK driving license

Good IT Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience with clinical system TPP/Systmone

Experience of QOF & BeCCoR
