Job Summary
The Analytics Engineer will lead and manage a technical Delivery team within the wider Informatics team. The Delivery team provides data modelling and visual analytics services, delivering dashboards and reports aligned with the Trust's strategic aims through Power BI. Each product requires user and technical documentation, design templates, change control requests, testing plans and results.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a technical team to plan, design, develop, implement and deliver high‑standard reports and visual analytics.
* Shape and develop the team's data visualisation capabilities, providing dashboards that meet business requirements.
* Provide technical blueprints and user guides for reports, dashboards, statistical tools, databases, cubes and design patterns.
* Ensure outputs and products are fully approved, sustainable and aligned to governance and data quality standards.
* Contribute to the Strategic Analytical and Visualisation programme, manage the Delivery Roadmap and drive enterprise information planning.
* Evaluate alternative technical approaches and champion service innovation and emerging informatics technologies.
* Line‑manage technical staff, conduct supervision and appraisals, recruit new team members, and promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Develop and implement metadata management, policies, procedures and governance controls.
* Engage with clinical and operational stakeholders, influence executive decision‑making and provide strategic insight.
* Maintain proactive relationships with system managers, external suppliers and broader Digital Services colleagues.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Degree level education in health informatics, computer science, social sciences or equivalent.
* Relevant experience supporting NHS users with data models, reporting, data quality, performance management and service improvement.
* Proficiency in Power BI stack, SQL and data visualisation programme delivery.
* Experience designing and building data architecture aligned to enterprise standards.
* Knowledge of NHS Information Governance, regulatory requirements and performance reporting.
* Evidence of leading and managing staff, including recruitment, appraisal, training and development.
* Understanding of organisational change management methodologies.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Professional and relevant certifications, membership of a professional body.
* ITIL, PRINCE2, MSP Practitioner/Foundation credentials.
* Experience with BI technology life‑cycle, quality assurance, contract management in mental healthcare.
