What will I be doing as an apprentice?
As a Quality Data Analyst apprentice, you’ll be working with data—but not just sat behind a desk. Expect to get hands-on with real-world systems, supporting the data that drives our laboratory operations and quality standards. This role is perfect for someone curious, detail-oriented, and ready to dive into the numbers to find meaning and drive improvement.
You won’t be on your own—far from it. You’ll be working alongside fellow apprentices and experienced colleagues who will support and mentor you throughout your journey. Learning on the job, you’ll develop skills and knowledge that go beyond the classroom and into a fast-paced, real-world environment.
As a member of the Holcim Quality team, you’ll help ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data that underpins decisions across our business. Whether it’s reporting on material testing or improving how we handle and analyze data, your work will help ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
No two days are ever the same with Holcim. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, supporting laboratory data systems and contributing to quality improvement projects across various locations. It’s a fantastic opportunity to grow professionally while gaining exposure to real data challenges and innovations in construction materials.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supporting the development and maintenance of our in-house laboratory management system.
* Assisting in the creation of clear, insightful data reports to support decision-making.
* Using tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and other data platforms to manage and analyze datasets.
* Investigating trends and patterns in data to support quality improvements.
* Helping define and report on data quality metrics.
* Working closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and improve data flows.
* Participating in training to enhance your knowledge of product testing and industry standards.
What could the future look like?
There’s no limit to what you can achieve while working with Holcim. Their team is at the heart of what they do, and they are looking for someone who wants to play a key part in that long term.
Through ‘on-the-job’ training you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills to provide competency and responsibility in carrying out testing and to help develop your career.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
About You
We’re looking for someone who’s curious, analytical, and detail-driven. You’ll need to show you can approach data with accuracy and care, and be proactive in identifying inconsistencies or areas for improvement. A genuine interest in data and technology is a must.
You’ll bring a logical mindset and a willingness to ask questions. We’re looking for someone who’s digitally confident, keen to learn new tools, and comfortable communicating with a variety of team members across the business. Qualifications
It’s not just about formal qualifications—it’s about potential. We welcome applicants who can demonstrate a strong interest in data management and analysis, along with a basic understanding of data quality and accuracy. Good communication skills, confidence to ask for help when needed, and the ability to stay organized and adapt to new technologies are all important. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who is self-motivated and eager to keep learning on the job.
So how does the apprenticeship work?
At Tiro we’re obsessed with changing lives through science and technology apprenticeships so we can’t wait to have you on board.
Over 15 months, you’ll devote a minimum of 6 hours of your working week on ‘off the job’ training. This can include theory training (for example, virtual lessons & online learning), alongside practical training (for example shadowing, mentoring, & time spent writing assignments. Together this will count towards a Level 3 Data Driven Professionals apprenticeship. You’ll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at Carvansons who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you’ll need to succeed in your career. Being an apprentice is hands-on, so you’ll get the chance to learn things you might otherwise not have experienced in a university or college environment.
The best part? You’ll be earning a salary while you gain your qualifications, meaning no huge student loans to pay back at the end of the programme!
Eligibility
While we never want to hinder your job application process with obstacles, there are some minimum requirements you’ll need to meet in order to do an apprenticeship, these are rules set by the UK Government.
As a training provider, we are committed to ensuring that our apprenticeship programs deliver significant new knowledge and skills. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate that the program will provide learning and experiences beyond their current qualifications and professional expertise.
If you already hold a Level 3, degree or equivalent higher-level qualification in a closely related field, or possess substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding, as these programmes are designed for individuals who require upskilling or reskilling in their chosen career pathway.
You’ll need to be over 16, not in full time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.
If you don’t quite meet these minimum requirements yet, let us know you’re interested here and we’ll get in touch to discuss this further with you.
We're Tiro (pronounced ‘Tea-ro’ as in white, two sugars).
In Latin, it means novice, recruit, apprentice, beginner and soldier. The perfect name for a company that’s been helping fearless apprentices to join ambitious businesses since 2005.
We believe that great apprenticeships help everyone. There are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employment opportunities waiting to be filled.
Our work will never be just about getting bums on seats and pocketing our commission. In our own small way, we’re helping to change the world – finding people that are working on COVID vaccines, finding new ways for technology to help humanity and helping to tackle the big issues of the day, like climate change. As well as helping people – young and old – to find their way.
