We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production Operations Team based in the North East London region. This is a mobile role, where you will work on various water treatment works and borehole sites around the Chingford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey and Stonebridge Park areas. We are looking for someone who can work safely, efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision while maintaining statutory obligations and asset performance. An ICA Technician may also operate and optimise processes and on‑site equipment to ensure delivery of water quality compliance, safety, and operational efficiencies both in and out of normal hours.
Responsibilities
* Install, commission, maintain, and repair water production assets, including level instrumentation, flow meters and turbidity monitors.
* Work with SCADA systems, PLCs and process control networks.
* Liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers where necessary.
* Investigate asset failures and implement repairs quickly to avoid interruptions in the water supply process.
* Provide specialist technical advice and training support for technical apprentices.
Qualifications
* HNC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
* Experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen‑Bradley) – management and programming.
* Familiarity with Wonderware and ClearSCADA (desirable).
* Ability to read and fault‑find from circuit diagrams and experience with inverter drives.
* Experience calibrating and maintaining front‑line instrumentation.
* Effective communication with internal and external staff and contractors.
* Problem‑solving, resilience and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Team player, respectful of others and supportive of team development.
* Full UK driving licence.
* BS7671 (Section 18) qualification (preferred).
