We are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused National Account Manager to develop and grow relationships with key national customers across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing existing accounts, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering sustainable sales growth in line with company objectives.
This role requires a proactive individual who can build strong customer relationships, understand market trends, negotiate effectively, and work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure exceptional customer service and account performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and develop relationships with key national accounts to maximise sales and profitability.
* Deliver annual sales targets, margin objectives, and strategic account goals.
* Identify opportunities for business growth within existing customer accounts and through new customer acquisition.
* Develop and implement account plans aligned with company objectives.
* Conduct regular customer meetings, reviews, and business planning sessions.
* Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, and promotional activities.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify opportunities and risks.
* Collaborate closely with internal departments including Customer Service, Marketing, Operations, Product Management, and Supply Chain.
* Produce sales forecasts, account reports, and performance analysis.
* Ensure customer issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
* Represent Select Hardware at customer meetings, trade events, and industry exhibitions when required.
* Maintain accurate customer records and pipeline activity within the company CRM system.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a National Account Manager, Key Account Manager, or Business Development role.
* Experience within the hardware, construction, building products, merchant, DIY, or related sectors.
* Strong track record of achieving sales and growth targets.
* Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation abilities.
* Ability to analyse sales data and identify growth opportunities.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Experience managing national retail, distribution, merchant, or trade accounts (desirable)
* Knowledge of route-to-market strategies and customer development planning (desirable)
