Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with a well-established South Yorkshire business in their search for a Financial Accountant. Following a period of consistent growth, the business is now looking to strengthen its finance function with a diligent and technically strong accountant.
In this role, you will support the Finance Director in delivering accurate and compliant financial reporting including the preparation of statutory accounts, whilst also contributing to the wider finance function. You will also lead on month-end close processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented candidate who enjoys working in a structured environment and contributing to process improvements.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with relevant standards (IFRS / UK GAAP).
* Take ownership of the month-end process, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts and look into any variances.
* Support the preparation of statutory accounts and work closely with external auditors.
* Make sure financial controls and processes are being followed across the business.
* Assist with VAT returns and other tax-related reporting.
* Maintain the general ledger, keeping financial data accurate and up to date.
* Support cash flow reporting and get involved in treasury tasks where needed.
* Help improve processes and ways of working within the finance team.
* Provide clear financial information and insight to stakeholders across the business.
Who you are
* Part-Qualified or Fully Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
* Experience with month-end and year-end processes.
* High attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills.
