About The Role
As an Assistant Editor, you will manage the processing of manuscripts from submission to acceptance, support the standardisation of workflows, improve efficiencies, collect data, and assist authors, editors, and reviewers. The position is key to helping editors with manuscripts and ensuring content is processed within suitable timeframes. You will prioritise workload, meet tight deadlines, and perform tasks with speed and accuracy. Additionally, you will maintain an efficient editorial process, standardise workflows, and may develop through editorial administration and operational management roles. This role does not include writing or editing content.
Role Responsibilities
* Work with Editors to ensure Authors are supported to meet publishing needs and comply with editorial policy.
* Manage journal pipelines by processing manuscripts from submission to final decision.
* Support Editors throughout the process and build excellent working relationships.
* Act as point of contact for authors, building trust, and improving author satisfaction.
* Collaborate and build rapport with Journal editorial staff for continuous improvement, updates, and new initiatives.
* Handle email correspondence between all parties in the publication process.
* Mentor and support new team members.
* Provide inputs on improving processes to reduce turnaround time and manage pipeline.
